Asia-Pacific (APAC) accounted for USD 1.3 trillion – or 44 percent – of the decade's total as catastrophic earthquake, tsunami, inland flood, and tropical cyclone events battered the region – and this is just accounting for natural disasters. Covid-19 has brought unprecedented impacts on the region – not only on the lives lost as well as the socio-economic costs – but its cascading impact on other sectors has ground the planet to a halt. This is why efforts to reduce disaster risks and implement effective emergency response to disasters must be systematically integrated into policies, plans and practices with recognition of the issues relating to sustainable development, climate change and poverty reduction.

We envision disaster resilient communities and countries.
Our mission is to scale up collaborative efforts to drive inclusive resilience and to contribute to the global efforts towards the achievement of the Sendai Framework and the UN SDGs.
We aim to be a catalyst towards building stronger public-private partnerships. We would like to see more business sector leaders involved in local and regional discussions on disaster risk reduction and emergency management, helping shape policies with their expertise. We believe that optimization of available technologies and services along with redefined partnerships can lead to a game-changing disaster prevention and mitigation.
We intend to be the leading force in channeling the knowledge and foresights of professionals to identify actions on managing cascading risks as we face the nexus of disaster-disease-climate change scenarios.
We aspire to contribute to local and regional capacity-building efforts towards resilience building in Asia.
REDCON Asia will be built around two major tracks showcasing:
(1) Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) – encompassing Risk Reduction, Mitigation, and Adaptation – incorporating Build-Back-Better holistic concepts.
(2) Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) – looking at Early Warning and Early Action paradigms.
The conference will have 6 thematic areas which will be discussed on both tracks:
REDCON Asia will bring together a wide diversity of stakeholders from across the region that have a shared and critical interest in disaster resilience and humanitarian emergency management.
Speakers include leaders of government, business sector, international agencies, civil societies, research bodies, development experts and the media – it will be THE venue wherein they can take part in an open discussion that seeks to bridge institutional silos and offer practical solutions for the future of disaster resilience.
